A:  TO INCREASE TURBULENCE AND MIXING.  INCREASING HEAT TRANSFER AND REDUCING THE TOTAL SURFACE AREA REQUIRED.

                    This reduces the amount of surface area required over traditional smooth tubes.

                    Higher turbulence and uniform flow reduces fouling and also benefits cleaning in place..
